There are lots of apps that you can download to check your iPhone data usage like AppWake from the App Store, but they only work on Apple’s devices and not other operating systems or different device types. They will ask for some extra signup processes, which could take a while depending on the app. So how do we get this information? Fortunately there are ways to easily discover how much data is used by our phone and use it in the right way. Here’s how to know what kind of usage your data is currently using the most.
If you have an iOS device powered by myPhoneData, then this article is just for you! I have tried all these methods to find out how many times I am spending time in the internet and if I’m actually using them properly. That will help you make better decisions on how much time you really need.
This guide was made through the time I used my PhoneData to see how often I’ve been sending and receiving mail, how often I send text messages and much more. Maybe this guide is useful to you too.
To know what kinds of data is being used on your device, go ahead and launch the MyData app here and select “View Your Usage”. From there you want to scroll down and click the top menu under “Storage data.” It will show you the percentage of data being used on your device. By default it should be 0.2%
To know how long and how much time you are consuming each type of data on your device, here’s how to choose the best storage plan for your device using myPhoneData.
To know how to prevent tracking yourself when your activity gets tracked when you don’t want to be tracked for any reason, here’s how to hide tracking and other information without tracking your own information and how to let myself and other people know when I am tracking a certain person if necessary, especially the contact details. The one thing that makes me the least happy with the service… I don’t have anything against developers, this is just something I have had an issue.
The next set of images shows 3 options of how to protect yourself from having information or data about someone else. The first option lets them know that you don’t want anyone to track your movements when you aren’t using it so long as you have permission to do so. You can also give an access control list to another family member to stop their friends from getting notified about your activities (you will probably get a notification if you share an account with anyone)
The last option, which is hidden on the bottom, is to disable Tracking for certain settings. That means you’ll no longer receive calls and notifications from anyone who does so
I haven’t seen so much information about iPhones if you compare them to Apple’s products because they always seem to be good. When I look at Apple’s phones and their features, I don’t think that even a single person would think that it’s better than others (I mean it’s expensive, but I just don’t think it’s worth it). However, if you want to see all those hidden settings, I can’t recommend it enough!
For Apple users, the question would be “How much data are on their phone?” On regular iPhones, you can see a bar that says “activity” to a lower degree. But not all iPhones have the same info, such as how much used photos and videos are stored on their device, how many applications you’ve installed if there are any, etc..
But when you open up the Settings, Apple’s mobile services and media controls, you can see everything that has happened to your device. Like, how fast the photos were taken and how much free space is being used on your hard drive. All this is available on the app called AppWake. As said before, it’s important to open it before doing anything else and check out a bit before launching to understand exactly how much data your phone can hold by itself. Then after that, use it wisely and don’t waste your data trying to figure out if it should be used on Facebook and Instagram.
Sometimes you might be surprised by how much data your phone is holding. It helps to check this information every few days. If you download AppWake, you can open its home screen and select the number of files you’ve opened lately in order to see what kind of data is being used. For example, here is some data on how many photos are being stored on your camera roll:
Your Activity & Photos on your Camera Roll
On the left-hand side, you’ll see a few folders where different photos are being stored. From the middle of the folder, you can see an icon with three dots with the date of when the photo was taken. If you see it by mistake, you can easily delete all the photos from it. The ones in blue are deleted already.
This folder contains only recently deleted photos. A few photos in that folder appear to be the biggest part of the file. In order to delete an image, you can right-clicking on the photo on your computer and selecting “Delete”. That removes all the pictures from that folder that you can still find. Noticing that folder and deleting old photos will usually clear out a lot of unnecessary clutter on the Photos screen.
Another folder is marked with the folder and date of when and also where that picture might have been. This one contains just deleted photos and will let you delete all that you no longer need on the photo tab on the top of your screen.
Now let’s say you delete all that unnecessary and unnecessary video clips that you no longer care about because they’re no longer interesting. After deleting all that video clips, you can locate a Photo folder and delete all those photos from that folder you no longer need. Now all of your deleted videos no longer appear on your timeline.
This folder on your iPhone has the same kind of functionality like all the photos and video clips folders I mentioned. Those are all empty buckets from the file system. Just like the previous folders and deleted items, they are also a temporary store from your iPhone for the things you deleted by mistake or maybe just never wanted. This folder lets you delete these unwanted photos and videos and let’s you focus on new, clean stuff.
Next you’ll be able to see how many apps you’ve added to playlists and your watch list, and all of those songs you listened to. When you tap to play a song on your playlist, you can see the title or whatever it is you are listening to on your Watchlist. All these are stored on your iPhone’s Library.
So you can access the details that I just gave you in this post, but also see how much data your iPhone holds. But to verify this you first have to install this app called myPhoneData. The app will tell you how much information it can display on the iPhone’s user interface and also lets you select the appropriate category of data to show. Below you can see how many categories are being shown by myPhoneData.
Category Information Displayed by myPhoneData
From myPhoneData, you can see the categories of data you’ve chosen to see. At the top you’ll see various categories. Let’s say you decide to see the apps. You can see the apps under Apps in the AppWake app. And each category is labelled by an icon below the name of the category. Here you can see the Apps category on myPhoneData and select the Category Selector to show you what apps you are using right now.
Apps – Categories Listing Displayed by myPhoneData
The Categories – Categories Listing Displayed by myPhoneData are subcategories of the particular categories. Each subclass is labeled with the icon found above. So for instance, if you put “Music” in the Music category you’ll find all of Apple Music related stuff here on myPhoneData. Similarly, in Sports you can see the sports category on myPhoneData and you’ll find all sports related stuff.
The Subclasses of some Categories and Sub-Subclasses in Them
For example, Under Games you can find all game related data here on myPhoneData. Then again you can identify some games and then change them to something else. For example you may want to remove soccer from your Playlist instead of football and you can see that by going to Edit AppWake > Edit Game > Remove Soccer. Similarly, you can tell Siri/Google Assistant to turn off Facebook Ads. In this case, myPhoneData does that on the User Interface.
Other Categories include Workout, TV Time, News, Meme, Videos, Lifestyle, Family Life, Video Games, Gaming, Personal Development, Books, Photography, Cinema, Fitness, Home Gadgets, Health Profiles, Money & Finance and More.
Here you can see all the subclasses and their respective icons to find more apps like Widget, Podcasts, Newsletters on myPhoneData. In terms of categories, you can see both subclasses together, and also individual app’s within subclasses as well.
If you like this, give it a try to see what happens. There are 2 free plans for 1 GB data, 2 GB data, 4 GB data, 6 GB data etc.
